STDs or sexually transmitted diseases are probably becoming somewhat more common. In particular gonorrhea can be a problem still and Chlamydia is very, very common. And the difficulty with these conditions is that they can damage the fallopian tubes and so make it impossible for the egg and the sperm to meet to start the new life and have a baby develop in the uterus.
