Question: Is the scar from a mastopexy noticeable? Dr. Lawrence Shaw: The scars after a mastopexy can vary. They can be very light, they can be dark, they can be red, they can be raised. Oftentimes, we'll see what type of scarring you have in other areas and it could perhaps predict what the breast scarring would look like. I think when you think of just the scarring alone it's a bigger issue. These patients are extremely happy and have been through the 20 years of my practice. What you don't see is the benefits you get with the shape and the size and how you looking in clothes and that will far outweigh the scars in most cases, but the big question is, if someone really doesn't want to put scars on their breast, than its best not to do this procedure.
