Bone tumors are not contagious. They can be hereditary. We deal with a number of disorders that can run in the family. We have some tumors that are inherited as autosomal dominant tumors. That means that half of your offspring can have the capability of developing those kinds of tumors. Most of those are not malignant conditions and most of those are not conditions that create significant problems in the majority of people down the road, but just like anything else, there are degrees of severity. There are hereditary disorders that can really be very disabling in certain conditions, and when people start searching on the internet for those types of disorders, there can be some very alarming conditions, and patients who have severe types of diseases can populate the internet. So it can be very alarming for people to search for information about some of the specific tumors that can be trouble even though they are benign.
