Anti-Aging Wand Treatment for Wrinkles Dr. Andrew P. Ordon: Now Travis, we’re here in the exam area. I’m here with Dr. Lisa Chipps, Dermatologist, and member of the Moy- Fincher Clinic in Beverly Hills and she’s going to tell us all about the wrinkle wand. So what is up with this? Dr. Lisa K. Chipps: Now, this is a radiofrequency device that we used at Moy- Fincher dermatology in order to deliver energy to the skin. This helps in order to restructure the collagen of the skin. It heats the collagen which causes it to breakdown and as it regenerates it firms and it tightens. Dr. Andrew P. Ordon: And you know, we both have used different forms of radiofrequency in the past. I think the biggest thing that I see immediately is that this hand piece is so different than what we’ve used in the past. Dr. Lisa K. Chipps: This hand piece allows us to deliver great precision. We can focus on areas that the patient is really concerned about which is wonderful. Dr. Andrew P. Ordon: Called Pellevé, right? Dr. Lisa K. Chipps: This is Pellevé. Dr. Andrew P. Ordon: Pellevé, with an accent mark, right? Dr. Lisa K. Chipps: That’s correct. Dr. Andrew P. Ordon: So let’s see exactly what it’s doing to the collagen under the skin. Dr. Lisa K. Chipps: Here you can see a cross-section of the normal human skin. The area that’s pink and flashing is the extracellular matrix of the dermis. This is the top the collagen is scaffolding that gives the skin its structure and its firmness. By heating this and letting it remodeled we’re able to tighten and firm the skin. Dr. Andrew P. Ordon: Okay, and about $1300.00 per treatment correct -- Dr. Lisa K. Chipps: That’s right. Dr. Andrew P. Ordon: You usually recommend at least two treatments. Dr. Lisa K. Chipps: We recommend two treatments about a month apart and then you see continued results over about six months or so as the collagen remodels. Dr. Andrew P. Ordon: Okay, well, show us how this works. I think you have before and after pictures. Dr. Lisa K. Chipps: Preview, these are some Pellevé ‘before and after’ so that patient who had two treatments, you can see the crossed lid area right at the corner of the eyes, has some improvement in the fine lines and some tightening in that area. And this is with no surgery, no pain, no needles, no injections. Dr. Andrew P. Ordon: Oh, I’m a big believer in radiofrequency and this is just another way to do that type of treatment. Dr. Lisa K. Chipps: That’s true. Dr. Andrew P. Ordon: What do you think of your result so far? Lisa: I have noticed results and even people that don’t know that I did anything, have asked me -- Dr. Andrew P. Ordon: There’s really no downtime and no discomfort. Lisa: No. Dr. Andrew P. Ordon: Dr. Chipps and Lisa thanks for coming. Dr. Lisa K. Chipps: Thank you. Dr. Andrew P. Ordon: Nice result.
