One of the obvious signs of Alzheimer’s disease is the loss of recent memory. Now we all have days when we can’t remember things like I’m walking to the house, I go into another room and I think why did I come into that room. But Alzheimer’s disease is pretty specific. Recent memory loss is at the top of the list. The inability to make judgments, for example, if you’re crossing the road, you make a judgment about whether that is safe. So the ability to reason, make judgments, lean new things, remember new things and the ability to look after yourself on a day to day basis, gradually those abilities and skills will decline. But the first warning signs really are a person who is really unable to remember recent events.
