Dr. Travis: This is our very own The Doctor’s cough remedy. That’s what we got here. Before we have a sip because I think we need to work up our cough… Let’s talk about what’s in this. So one thing is grapes; now this isn’t grape juice this is grapes. You have to have the seeds in there because the seeds, the grape skin filled with antioxidants when added to this drink—there’s actually been some studies that it may help improve a cold because some of the antioxidants were powerful with Vitamin E, Vitamin C; so this is the base just make sure you get a blender that can get those seeds ground up okay. Dr. Lisa: And you can tell your kids that you won’t grow in there. Dr. Sears: Right, yeah no trees. Dr. Travis: Alright Lisa what else is in this bad boy? Dr. Lisa: Well I've got some honey. And so honey is in this and you know that we all know how it coats the throat and soothes when you have a sore throat or cough. But it also been shown to fight bacteria as well. So, honey you know and people will often put honey in their tea and things like that. So we've got a little honey in our drink here. Dr. Sears: But babies under age one should not get raw honey. You guys know why? Dr. Travis: No, why? Dr. Sears: There’s a risk of botulism. Babies can get botulism from raw honey. So that’s important. Now, the next ingredient is lemon. Now lemon is a natural expectorant. It helps clear out that mucus. It also helps soothes an irritated throat where a lot of the cough gets generated. Dr. Ordons: But very important you’ve got to spice this thing up a little bit with a little cayenne pepper. Dr. Travis: I would think that would make you cough. Dr. Ordon: And just like you said Jim, cayenne contains capsicum which naturally clears the mucus in your lungs and actually it just promotes good, healthy lung tissue. So that’s the other ingredient. Dr. Lisa: I think a better use for it then when you put it in a sock or your foot. Dr. Sears: My foot was burning for a day and a half. Dr. Travis: But was your foot coughing? Dr. Sears: No it was not. Dr. Travis: So I don’t think any of us are sick right now and sometimes the best treatment for a cough is the tincture of time. CHEERS! Dr. Travis: What’s your name? Danielle: Hi, my name is Danielle. Dr. Ordon: I hope you like spicy. Dr. Lisa: Yeah, I think this is a spicy version. Dr. Travis: So I want you to try this out and then you give us your honest opinion. If you don’t like it you can say so. Danielle: It tastes really good. It’s better than cough medicine for sure. Dr. Sear: Here comes the kick though. Dr. Lisa: Yeah, it’s going to little spice you and then you have to get over the texture a little bit too. Dr. Travis: So something you might try at home? Danielle: Uh-hmm. Dr. Travis: You know what you can take that and keep drinking it. Danielle: I'm going to. Dr. Travis: Thank you for coming up. Dr. Sears: Just don’t pass it around. Dr. Ordon: I think that cayenne works. Dr. Travis: Here’s what’s great, this is actually just a really healthy smoothie regardless. You’ve got grapes, lemons, a little cayenne pepper and just a dab of honey will do.
