Is it important for a woman to discuss her sexual limitations with her orthopedic surgeon after a pelvic fracture? Dr. Brian Mullis: Yes, I would. After any type of pelvis fracture, I would talk to your orthopedic surgeon about having sex and if it’s safe to do so. The great majority of the time, it is safe. The times it might not be is for the really high-energy pelvis fractures that need surgery and many times I will limit patients for about six weeks after I have done surgery to make sure that there’s no problems from the surgery itself.
