Daddy Troy: Welcome back to Gear Daddy. I'm your host Daddy Troy and I'm back with Gary of Once Upon a Child. It's a store, they resale kids and babies' clothing, gear and toys. Last week we looked at all the things you can buy here and this week we are going to look at the resale of the buy back process by which you can come in and bring all the stuff out of your garage and sell it to these guys and get your cash back. So Gary, tell me how does the buy process work? I got a lot of stuff at home. I want to bring it and sell it to you guys. Gary: We buy gently used children's items, like we mentioned before 0 to above 14, the size 14 in the kids. we do buy all seasons, all the time. we buy clothes, toys, equipment, furniture anything that has to do with the child from zero to about eight or nine years old. Daddy Troy: Great. So, how do you guys make the selection? I got all my stuff at the house. I am going to bring it all in. what do I have to do before and prepare in order to make sure you guys will buy it? GARY: We're looking for gently used, nearly new. You bring in your items. We go through them. We give you a quote. And we pay you right on the spot. DADDY TROY: What are some things that you would not buy? GARY: Items that are too worn, they're faded; they have got holes in them. We don't buy used car seats, mattresses, and breast pumps. DADDY TROY: Well, I got some items here and Gary, I'm going to ask you if they pass the test or not. Okay? GARY: Okay. DADDY TROY: Here's some really styling advanced really cool shoes. Would you guys take these? GARY: We wouldn't take these. The heel is broken down and it's starting to wear thin on the edges here where you can see the wear. Our customers won't purchase them in that condition. DADDY TROY: How about these Chuck Taylors? GARY: These are great. They're in good shape. They're clean. They're gently used. They still have the color left on the shoe. These are items our customers buy every day. DADDY TROY: In terms of strollers, what would kick a stroller out, if I wanted to resell a stroller? GARY: We try to keep them within 7 to 8 years. That way we make sure they're still in good condition, good operating order, not too faded, not too worn. But the other side of it is, we never buy recalled items. DADDY TROY: As a customer, I don't really have to think that through before I get here. You guys can figure that out. GARY: We have the book. We have all the latest changes. All the latest recalls. We check out every item that comes. DADDY TROY: So customers come in. What kind of change your customers walking away with? GARY: They're walking away with anywhere from $15 to $200 or $300. It just depends on what they bring in. DADDY TROY: Thanks so much for having us in today. If I wanted to find out more about the company or some locations, where would I go? GARY: Go to ouac.com and they'll have all the locations listed across the United States. DADDY TROY: Okay and we'll have a link to that on our website. Well, thanks so much. We'll see you next time on Gear Daddy. And all week long at DadLabs.com.
