A Diabetic Neuropathy Success Story Well, it’s generally gratifying to treat patients with diabetes and get the kind of results we’ve been getting. I can think of this particular woman who had type-1 diabetes and had diabetic neuropathy for many years, and she has been a patient of mine for a long period of time. And she was familiar with the Dellon decompression. I was reluctant in the beginning to do the surgery on her because it was not really that well known and proven at that time, but her symptoms kept getting worse and worse and worse. And finally, we came to the conclusion that we needed to do something otherwise she was going to lose her leg. We did her one leg, and a year later we did her other leg and she is doing fabulous. That’s very gratifying. Well, it not only makes me feel gratified that I was able to help somebody but it makes me feel that if you think outside of the box a little bit you can intervene on these very difficult cases and make a difference, not only professionally, but personally. It brings some energy to the practice. We are not doing the same old things, we are doing great things and we are going to do better things in the future.
