30 Minute Dental Crown Innovation Dr. Travis Stork: We have your patient Kevin there and also with you today is dental assistant Kristen and dentist doctor Armen Mirzayan and you’re going to use this a little bit later on Kevin but the first thing you’re going to use is a cutting edge crown procedure. Dr. Bill Dorfman: That’s right. Kevin broke his molar eating popcorn and what where going to do today is going to make him a Cerec crown. Now, Cerec is great because of two things. First of all, there are no more impression materials, so we don’t need all that goopy stuff. We’re going to take an impression digitally. I’ll show you that one second and then as soon as we get that impression Travis, I’m going to place it right into this Cerec machine and it’s going to mill a crown instantly for you. We’ll cement it right on. So, the great thing is he doesn’t have to leave with a temporary. He doesn’t have to come back for a second appointment. He doesn’t have to get anesthesia twice. It will all be done now today here. Dr. Travis Stork: Kevin, are you ready? Dr. Bill Dorfman: He’s ready. He can’t talk; he’s all numb. Okay, here’s what we’re going to do. We’re going to put this right in his mouth, we’ll take this impression. There we go. Now, this is digital impression and you can see that we can move this around. Now, the impression is going to have a margin, let’s show the margin and this is where the crown fits. Now, what will happen at the end is the crown is actually going to go on the tooth and there’s the final crown. So, here’s the cool part. Travis, all I have to do is push this one button and this machine is going to mill the crown. You ready? Let’s do it. Basically, what this Cerec machine now is reading the impression that we took, it’s also integrating the patient’s bite because it knows where his lower teeth go. So, this crown will fit in every dimension. It’s almost done here, about three more seconds. All right, there we go. Dr. Travis Stork: And do you think this technology will be available in a lot of dentist office? Dr. Bill Dorfman: It’s starting to become more and more popular. Here’s the crown now. Can I have the model? Let me show you how this works now. So, this is a replica of Kevin’s mouth. Here’s the porcelain crown that we just made and you’ll see that this crown fits right on the margin, right on the model and it is actually a perfect replica of what Kevin’s tooth was before. Dr. Lisa Masterson: That’s fantastic. Dr. Travis Stork: So, Kevin’s now ready for his crown and then we’re going to reverse his anesthesia, right? Dr. Bill Dorfman: That’s right. So, let’s try it in and make sure it fits well. There we go. You can see it’s a perfect color match. Turn that away from me. There we go. All right Kevin, go ahead and close for me, how’s the bite? And here’s the thing that’s amazing, not only does the color match, the bite’s perfect, the margins are perfect. He can even floss in between his teeth. So, we’ll just go ahead and cement this on for you now Kevin. Dr. Lisa Masterson: Well, that looks so easy even for the biggest dentist chickens you have [Voice Overlap] not to get a crown. Dr. Bill Dorfman: What we’re going to do is we’re going to use this little flashlight and this will cure the cement and harden it in about 30 seconds. Dr. Travis Stork: And of course, Kevin is still numb for this part of the procedure. Dr. Bill Dorfman: Yeah, but where going to unnumb right about now. There we go, all right Kevin close, awesome. Okay, let’s have the OraVerse. Dr. Travis Stork: Kevin thumbs up, you still doing good? Kevin: Yap. Dr. Travis Stork: Yap. Dr. Bill Dorfman: Okay, so this is the OraVerse. We will go ahead we inject this just like we do the regular anesthesia in the same place and this will make his anesthesia go away. Dr. Travis Stork: And let’s remind everyone, Kevin is numb right now, so he doesn’t feel the reversal stick. Dr. Bill Dorfman: All right, we’re all done. Dr. Travis Stork: Well thank
