Medical Specialist: Pediatric Sports Medicine

The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) offers subspecialty certification in Pediatric Sports Medicine as a subspecialty of Pediatrics. Pediatric sports medicine specialists manage the treatment of children and teens with sports related injuries or fitness and training concerns. After completing medical school training, the physician receives at least three more years of training in a pediatric residency, followed by an additional two years of training in a pediatric sports medicine fellowship.
