Stretching and Flexibility Techniques

The common stretching techniques include static, ballistic, PNF (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation), and active isolated stretching. Active range of motion, though not a form of stretching, is a flexibility technique that helps to maintain normal movement in a joint. You may hear about other sorts of stretching; most of them are variations of these techniques. Even though I do not necessarily recommend all of these methods, you should know a little about each type of stretch. A brief description of each can help you decide which technique is most applicable to your situation.
