(HealthDay News) -- Why do people who are born with the ability to see eventually become blind?

The U.S. National Library of Medicine offers this list of common reasons for severe or complete vision loss:

  • Having glaucoma.
  • Being diabetic.
  • Sustaining an eye injury, such as from playing a sport or from a chemical burn.
  • Having macular degeneration.
  • Having cataracts.
  • Having vitamin A deficiency.
