Medical Specialist: Pediatric Emergency Medicine
Pediatric emergency physicians specialize in the treatment of children and teens with acute illnesses and injuries. After completing medical training, the physician receives at least three more years of training in a pediatric or emergency-medicine residency. This is followed by an additional two years of training as a pediatric emergency fellow.
Board Certified Pediatric Emergency Medicine specialists practice in emergency departments of children’s hospitals and university medical centers, but can also be found in urgent-care centers and other community settings. They are highly qualified to treat children with:
