The American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology recognizes the subspecialty of Gynecologic Oncology. Obstetrician/Gynecologists who pursue additional training in the field of oncology (cancer) provide management for patients with gynecologic cancer. They are experts in cancer diagnosis, staging and treatments, including surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy and experimental treatment. They are knowledgeable about risk factors, prevention and alternative therapies.
