Drug Allergy Alternative Treatments

There are no known alternative treatments for drug allergies. There are, however, herbal remedies that may alleviate some of the symptoms associated with minor allergic reactions, such as rashes, itching, and hives. For example, tea tree oil has been shown in some small studies to effectively reduce histamine-induced inflammation in the skin. Butterbur leaf extract is another herb that has shown some promising results as a natural antihistamine. Further studies, however are needed for both of these treatments. For some people, certain herbs and supplements can exacerbate existing symptoms or bring about new ones, so always consult your doctor before starting a herbal treatment.
