A spicy twist for boring chips! Serve hot with a garden salad or put them into a bun with a dash of butter, a sprinkling of cheese and some red onions and you have yourself a mouth-watering chip butty.

  • 1 pound oven chips
  • 2 small red chillies
  • 1 small red onion
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 2 finely chopped tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 2 tsp finely chopped parsley
  • 2 tbsp water
  • Salt to taste
  • Lemon juice to taste

Step by Step:

  1. Heat the oil on medium heat, add the cumin seeds followed by onions.
  2. Lower the heat and leave for 3 minutes.
  3. Add garlic and red chillies and leave for a further 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Once the onions have softened add the tomatoes, black pepper, paprika, red chilli powder, and salt.
  5. Let the sauce simmer for 2 minutes, stir in the parsley and water, take it off the heat.
  6. Add the chips to the sauce and mix well, serve with a lemon wedge.
