When Teens Travel Without You

What was I thinking? My oldest daughter is currently traveling in China with her class, and has been there for the last week. They are due home Sunday morning and I will admit that I cannot wait. I honored the school request to not send an international cell phone, and her sister and I have relied on the daily pictures and blog to assure ourselves that she is safe, healthy and having a great time, but anxiety is a sneaky thing.

I have had dreams about planes, boats, trains, and none of them have ended well! I have woken up several times during the nights, and have checked her room more than once. I guess this is preparation for when she is away at college and I will not hear from her for days on end, but I am not enjoying it.

She did send a brief email from the family computer during her home stay, which did reassure me that all was well, except that one of her shoes is falling apart, but if that is the worst thing that happens during her 10 days being 6,000 miles away, I will live! Parenthood is never dull!
