No More Gay-to-Straight Therapy Or Treatments!

I love the American Psychological Association (APA)! This week during the annual meeting it declared that mental health professionals should not tell gay clients that they can become straight through (reparative) therapy or other treatments used by a small group of religiously conservative therapists!

Instead of encouraging gay-to-straight therapy, the APA suggested that therapists consider encouraging people to adopt celibacy or switch churches as ways to help clients live spiritually rewarding lives.

This seems like a great way to respect a person's religious beliefs and discourage reparative therapy at the same time.
