Book Review: Evermore & Blue Moon

TEXT SIZE: A A A
Well it must be summer, here come the book reviews. The first two are Evermore and Blue Moon, both part of the immortals series by Alyson Noel, 2009. The Immortals series begins with Evermore, in which Ever Bloom looses her parents, sister and family dog in an awful accident, and goes to live with an aunt in a different state, a different community, a different school, and a different reality in more ways than meets the eye. She now also has psychic abilities and apparently a stalker who has loved her for about 400 years.

Evermore is the perfect teen romance - full of passion, promises of eternity, and oh wait, an evil and murderous ex-wife, Drina. Blue Moon follows with a mysterious illness, Ever's growing powers, and evil rogue immortal, a "happy" high school, and a terrible choice Ever makes, tries to undo, and ends of pretty much ruining ever thing she has ever wanted.

I have to admit some frustration with the second book - in particular Ever's self-pity, inability to trust the right people, and her inability to make a reasonable decision. I think maybe I should have quit while I was ahead with Evermore. I cannot decide if I will read the next book in the series, Shadowland due in February 2010 - but you never know.
