Metolius Mega Duffel

TEXT SIZE: A A A

From time to time I come across products that are superior to others on the market. Such is the case with the Metolius Mega Duffel.

First, let me say, that I am in no way being compensated or rewarded for providing this endorsement. No payment, no free duffel, nothing like that. I am just letting you know about something I have used now for more than two years, and which has stood up to major rough handling without showing any sign of wear or tear.

This duffel is, as noted on the company's website, endowed with the following features:

  • Haul bag technology
  • Built from a lighter-weight version of Durathane™ haul bag material
  • Lockable, panel-style opening uses dual #10 YKK zippers - security and easy access
  • Two top-mounted and two end-mounted carry handles
  • Super-padded shoulder strap
  • 7500 cu. in. (123 L)
  • 33"x 17"x 15" (838 mm x 432 mm x 381 mm)
  • 4 lb. 10 oz. (1.8 kg)
  • Color: assorted
  • Price: $129.00

I have trekked with this bag to Everest Base Camp, dropped it on sharp rocks without a rip or dent, used it repeatedly to haul dive gear onto boats and to the beach, and for general travel purposes. It is designed for rugged use, and withstands the elements (rain, snow, abrasion, heat, cold) better than any general purpose duffel bag that I have ever owned. The bright yellow color (if this is what you select) is easy to spot and difficult for someone to confuse with their gear (so, less chance of it being taken mistakenly). The dual-zipper top flap opening is secure and easy to access, and the closure and seams fully integrated to accommodate security measures (such as dual carabiners and an airport-style lock).

I highly recommend this product.
