Welcome to the ART of Conception

TEXT SIZE: A A A
Greetings! I am Carl M. Herbert, M.D., an ABOG board-certified reproductive endocrinologist and infertility specialist (otherwise known as an infertility doctor). I have been performing assisted reproductive technology (ART) procedures such as in-vitro fertilization (IVF) for well over two decades and I was instrumental in developing one of the first ART programs in the United States.

For many, having a child is a life-long dream and being diagnosed with infertility can be devastating. However, with the introduction of numerous new techniques, procedures and equipment, the rate of conception has steadily improved.

I believe that one of the most important tools for overcoming infertility is awareness and education. If you think you have an infertility issue, do your research, talk to your physician and, last but not least, act quickly. Time is of the essence when it comes to conceiving, particularly in older women.

Thankfully infertility awareness has undergone a paradigm shift since the advent of the Internet. The web affords privacy and intimacy that other forms of communications do not. Still, there is great potential for misinformation. Few things are more rewarding to me than sharing the joy of an expectant parent. For this reason I have volunteered to provide accurate information through this blog.

It is a pleasure to be a part of the Health Matters blogger team. I look forward to answering your questions.
