Wear Red Friday, Feb 5

TEXT SIZE: A A A

February is American Heart Month and Friday, February 5, 2010 is the official National Wear Red Day designated by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. Did you know that heart disease is the number one killer of women AND men in this country?

Wearing red on Friday will show your support of women's heart disease awareness. Last year this campaign received a lot of attention and when celebrities went all out with their gorgeous red dresses at Fashion Week (see picture). It is going to happen again this year on February 11. Whether it is a nice dress or just a red colored blouse or shirt, wear red on Friday in support of heart disease.

You can get involved in their campaign called The Heart Truth. They have some amazing "stories from the heart" which tell how heart disease has affected women like all of us. They also tell us how to reduce our risk with what we can do now to prevent heart disease later in life.

You can also get a free Go Red For Women pin to support the cause.
