Go Bananas in 2012

TEXT SIZE: A A A

Go BananasBananas are one of my favorite foods of all time. I believe everyone should have a banana every single day and I tell this to all my clients and athletes that I work with. Bananas are a fantastic super food as they are inexpensive, they taste good, and are very versatile. There are also countless benefits to consuming bananas as they are incredibly nutritious  and contain vitamins and minerals including potassium, vitamin B6, vitamin C, and fiber. So why not make it your goal or New Year’s resolution for 2012 to consume a banana everyday? Well, I have a great way that you can do this!

Dole, the world’s largest provider of fresh produce and number one banana brand in North America, has just launched (began January 1, 2012) their “Go Bananas Every Day” campaign. This campaign is a year long initiative to challenge Americans to make bananas part of their daily routine in 2012. It was developed in partnership with Dole Nutrition Institute chefs and Registered Dietitians to provide you with daily tips, recipes, promotions, and fun trivia.

Banana fans can follow DOLE Bananas on Twitter and Facebook to receive daily or weekly banana-friendly suggestions!

Here are just a few samples of the past week that DOLE has launched from the 366 Ways to Go Bananas in 2012:

Day 8 : Celebrate Elvis Presley’s birthday by eating his favorite sandwich, peanut butter and banana.

Day 7: Read the entire Wikipedia entry for “banana” (it’s long).

Day 6:  Enjoy eating bananas while listening to the top 10 banana songs.

Day 5: Polish your leather shoes with a banana peel.

Day 4: Add a banana to your oatmeal.

Day 3: Make Gingery Banana Waffles for breakfast this morning.

Day 2: Enjoy a DOLE Banana while watching the Dole Rose Parade Float

Day 1: Eat two bananas a day in the morning to help lose weight and keep that New Year's resolution.
