Do you struggle to get a nutritious breakfast for yourself or
your family daily? Too little time? Not
hungry? Whatever the reason may be,
everyone needs this meal. Breakfast is the most important meal of the
day (ever heard that one before?) as it recharges your mind and body while
kick-starting your energy, leaving you fueled for the day. Eating breakfast can
increase your metabolic rate resulting in more energy, greater alertness, and
improved weight control. It also sets the tone for the day, resulting in
potentially better eating habits throughout the day. Why would you want to
deprive yourself or your children of these wonderful benefits?
For many of us, including myself, it’s shocking to find out that 1 in 5 children live in a home where breakfast is hard to come by. That’s why Kellogg’s has created the “Share Your Breakfast” program and established National Breakfast Week March 4-10, 2012. This program is designed to reach the goal of helping to share 1 million breakfasts to the kids who need them. If you share your breakfast, Kellogg’s will donate money to help Action for Healthy Kids increase school breakfast participation.
Here are some ways that you can help:
- Simply share what you had for breakfast on the Share Your Breakfast website or Kellogg’s Facebook tab
- Tweet what you had for breakfast using the hash tag #shareurbreakfast
- Look for specially marked packages of Kellogg’s products for $5 off breakfast!
- Order a Kellogg’s Collector’s Edition Spoon and they’ll share breakfast with kids in need for every spoon ordered.
We can give children the opportunity to eat breakfast and a chance to realize that great things can happen each day if their brains are fueled correctly! Let’s see the power of breakfast in action!
