Registered dietitian Andrea N. Giancoli is a nutrition advocate, consultant and educator. She is a current national spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association and founder of Fit4School. As a National Spokesperson Giancoli serves as a media expert and resource for electronic and print media outlets across the country. Her many television appearances include The Today Show, Lifetime, Extra! and numerous other programs.
In the role of founder for Fit4School, Giancoli develops wellness policies for school districts and implements nutrition education and physical activity promotion programs for students, teachers and parents. She worked extensively with the Los Angeles Unified School District to pass the landmark food and beverage policies "The Healthy Beverage Resolution" and the "Obesity Prevention Motion", which eliminated the sale of unhealthful soft drinks and snacks on all district campuses. Giancoli also works with Kaiser Permanente of Southern California conducting a behavioral research study designed to prevent and manage type 2 Diabetes.
A former nutritionist and media spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services, Giancoli is an instructor at UCLA Extension and lead nutritionist at the "Ask the Dietitian at Farmers' Market", sponsored by the LA County Nutrition Program. Prior to becoming a registered dietitian, Giancoli worked for eight years as a television news producer for CNN, Extra!, and CBS's Day & Date. She is a graduate of UCLA where she also earned her master's degree in public health nutrition. She completed her dietetic internship with the Greater Los Angeles Veterans' Administration Hospital.
