What is this medicine?
NEOMYCIN; POLYMYXIN B (nee oh MYE sin; pol i MIX in B) is a combination of an aminoglycoside antibiotic and a polymyxin antibiotic. It is used to help prevent urinary tract infections in the bladder.This medicine may be used for other purposes; ask your health care provider or pharmacist if you have questions.
What should I tell my health care provider before I take this medicine?
They need to know if you have any of these conditions:- bladder problems
- kidney disease
- other chronic illness
- an unusual or allergic reaction to neomycin, polymyxin, other antibiotics or medicines, foods, dyes or preservatives
- pregnant or trying to get pregnant
- breast-feeding
How should I use this medicine?
This medicine is for continuous irrigation of your bladder. It is usually given in a hospital by a health care professional.If you are to receive this medicine at home, your doctor or health care professional will give you additional instructions.
Talk to your pediatrician regarding the use of this medicine in children. Special care may be needed.
Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.
