What is this medicine?
CICLOPIROX SHAMPOO (sye kloe PEER ox) is an antifungal medicine. It used to treat seborrhea, a dandruff-like condition of the scalp and hair.This medicine may be used for other purposes; ask your health care provider or pharmacist if you have questions.
What should I tell my health care provider before I take this medicine?
They need to know if you have any of these conditions:- diabetes mellitus
- herpes infection
- HIV infection
- constant fungal infections of the skin
- an unusual or allergic reaction to ciclopirox, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives
- pregnant or trying to get pregnant
- breast-feeding
How should I use this medicine?
This medicine is for use on the hair and scalp only. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Wet hair and apply the amount prescribed to the scalp. Lather and leave on the hair and scalp for 3 minutes, then rinse. You will repeat the treatment twice per week (with 3 days between treatments) for 4 weeks. Use the shampoo for the full treatment time even though your symptoms may have improved. Do not get this shampoo in your eyes. If you do, rinse out with plenty of cool tap water.Do not use your medicine more often than directed. Do not use this medicine for any condition other than the one for which it was prescribed.Talk to your pediatrician regarding the use of this medicine in children. Special care may be needed.
Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.
NOTE: This medicine is only for you. Do not share this medicine with others.
What if I miss a dose?
If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, use only that dose. Do not use double or extra doses.What may interact with this medicine?

What should I watch for while using this medicine?
Tell your doctor or health care professional if your symptoms do not improve within 4 weeks, or if they get worse. It is important not to use more shampoo than prescribed. If you have a reaction to the shampoo that suggests you are sensitive to it, discontinue use and contact your doctor or health care professional.What side effects may I notice from receiving this medicine?
Side effects that you should report to your doctor or health care professional as soon as possible:- allergic reactions like skin rash, itching or hives, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue
- redness, severe burning, blistering, or oozing of the skin
Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your doctor or health care professional if they continue or are bothersome):
- mild itching
