Side effects that you should report to your doctor or health care professional as soon as possible:\n-allergic reactions like skin rash, itching or hives\n-breathing problems\n-changes in vision\n-chest pain\n-dark urine\n-fever or chills, sore throat\n-general ill feeling or flu-like symptoms\n-light-colored stools\n-loss of appetite, nausea\n-right upper belly pain\n-unusual bleeding or bruising\n-unusually weak or tired\n-yellowing of the eyes or skin\n\nSide effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your doctor or health care professional if they continue or are bothersome):\n-diarrhea\n-headache\n-loss of appetite\n-muscle aches, pains\n-nausea, vomiting\n-orange to brown color of urine, stools, saliva, tears, soft contact lenses, and sweat\n-stomach pain, upset\n-unusual taste

Do not take this medicine with any of the following medications:\n-clarithromycin\n-delavirdine\n-erythromycin\n-sirolimus\n-troleandomycin\n-voriconazole\n\nThis medicine may also interact with the following medications:\n-dapsone\n-female hormones, like estrogens or progestins and birth control pills, patches, rings, or injections\n-fluconazole\n-itraconazole\n-medicines that treat or prevent blood clots like warfarin\n-medicines for HIV\n-sulfamethoxazole; trimethoprim
How to Use rifabutin
Take this medicine by mouth with a glass of water. Follow the directions on the prescription label. You can take it with or without food. If it upsets your stomach, take it with food. Take your medicine at regular intervals. Do not take your medicine more often than directed. It is important to take all of your medicine as directed even if you think your are better. Do not skip doses or stop your medicine early.\n\nTalk to your pediatrician regarding the use of this medicine in children. Special care may be needed.
They need to know if you have any of these conditions:\n-kidney disease\n-tuberculosis\n-wear contact lenses\n-an unusual or allergic reaction to rifabutin, rifampin, rifapentine, rifaximin, other medicines, foods, dyes or preservatives\n-pregnant or trying to get pregnant\n-breast-feeding
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, take only that dose. Do not take double or extra doses. Tell your health care professional about all missed doses.
Visit your doctor or health care professional for regular check ups.\n\nThis medicine can color your urine, stool, sweat, tears, sputum, skin or saliva red, orange or brown. This is not a cause for alarm. However, soft contact lenses may be permanently stained.\n\nBirth control pills may not work properly while you are taking this medicine. Talk to your doctor about using an extra method of birth control.
Keep out of the reach of children.\n\nStore at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F). Keep container tightly closed. Throw away any unused medicine after the expiration date.
