Side effects that you should report to your doctor or health care professional as soon as possible:\n-allergic reactions like skin rash, itching or hives, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue\n-anxiety, confusion, or dizziness\n-breathing problems\n-change in blood pressure\n-chest pain\n-dark urine\n-fever\n-irregular heart rate\n-pain, swelling, or irritation at site where injected\n-redness, blistering, peeling or loosening of the skin, including inside the mouth\n-seizures\n-unusual bleeding or bruising\n-white or red patches in mouth\n-yellowing of the eyes or skin\n\nSide effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your doctor or health care professional if they continue or are bothersome):\n-constipation or diarrhea\n-diaper rash\n-headache\n-nausea, vomiting\n-stomach upset or gas\n-vaginal itch or irritation

How to Use meropenem
This medicine is for infusion into a vein. It is usually given by a health care professional in a hospital or clinic setting.\n \nIf you get this medicine at home, you will be taught how to prepare and give this medicine. Use exactly as directed. Take your medicine at regular intervals. Do not take it more often than directed.\n \nIt is important that you put your used needles and syringes in a special sharps container. Do not put them in a trash can. If you do not have a sharps container, call your pharmacist or healthcare provider to get one.\n \nTalk to your pediatrician regarding the use of this medicine in children. While this drug may be prescribed for children as young as newborns for selected conditions, precautions do apply.
They need to know if you have any of these conditions:\n-brain tumor or lesion\n-kidney disease\n-seizure disorder\n-an unusual or allergic reaction to meropenem, other antibiotics or medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives\n-pregnant or trying to get pregnant\n-breast-feeding
If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, use only that dose. Do not use double or extra doses.
Your condition will be monitored carefully while you are receiving this medicine. Tell your doctor or healthcare professional if your symptoms do not start to get better or if they get worse.\n\nDo not treat diarrhea with over the counter products. Contact your doctor if you have diarrhea that lasts more than 2 days or if it is severe and watery.
Keep out of the reach of children.\n\nIf you are using this medicine at home, you will be instructed on how to store this medicine. Throw away any unused medicine after the expiration date on the label.
