cinacalcet May Interact with Other Medications
Do not take this medicine with any of the following medications:\n-thioridazine\n\nThis medicine may also interact with the following medications:\n-erythromycin\n-flecainide\n-grapefruit juice\n-medicines for depression, anxiety, or psychotic disturbances\n-medicines for fungal infections like fluconazole, itraconazole, ketoconazole, voriconazole\n-medicines for pain\n-medicines for sleep\n-St. John's wort\n-vinblastine
How to Use cinacalcet
Take this medicine by mouth with a glass of water. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Do not break, chew, or crush tablets. Take this medicine with food or right after a meal. Take your medicine at regular intervals. Do not take your medicine more often than directed. Do not stop taking except on your doctor's advice.\n\nTalk to your pediatrician regarding the use of this medicine in children. Special care may be needed.
They need to know if you have any of these conditions:\n-heart failure\n-liver disease\n-low blood calcium\n-seizure disorder\n-an unusual or allergic reaction to cinacalcet, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives\n-pregnant or trying to get pregnant\n-breast-feeding
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, take only that dose. Do not take double or extra doses.
Visit your doctor for regular checks on your progress. Your doctor will order important blood tests while you are taking this medicine. This medicine may cause an increase or decrease in your blood pressure. Check your blood pressure as directed. Ask your doctor or health care professional what your blood pressure should be and when you should contact him or her.\n\nThis medicine alters the calcium level in your blood. You may need to be on a special diet. Talk to your health care provider about the foods you eat and the vitamins you take.
Keep out of the reach of children.\n\nStore at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F). Throw away any unused medicine after the expiration date.
