Taking grapefruit juice with Ergot Alkaloids might increase the risk of nausea, nervousness, chest pain, high blood pressure, palpitations, or other serious side effects, like pain, numbness or reduced circulation to the hands, feet or legs. Ergot Alkaloids include, but are not limited to, Cafergot, Ergotrate, Ergostat, Hydergine, Methergine, Migranal, Sansert or Wigraine. It is best to avoid grapefruit juice while taking Ergot Alkaloids to reduce the chance of Ergot Alkaloid-related side effects.

It is recommended to avoid nicotine (examples: Nicotine patches or gum) and tobacco while taking any Ergot-type medications. Side effects from Ergot Alkaloids may get worse if you take Nicotine or if you smoke tobacco. Ergot Alkaloids include, but are not limited to, Cafergot, Ergotrate, Ergostat, Hydergine, Methergine, Migranal, Sansert or Wigraine. Side effects might include anxiety, chest pain, numbness in the fingers or toes, tingling, or vision changes.

Once you begin Nicotine therapy to help you stop smoking or using tobacco products, you should stop using Tobacco. If you continue to use Tobacco while using Nicotine drug products, you may expereince side effects from too much Nicotine, like headache, nausea or vomiting, abdominal pain, or high blood pressure.

Mifepristone (also known as RU-486 or Mifeprex) does not interact with most foods. Grapefruit juice and grapefruit-containing foods may increase the effects of Mifepristone, RU-486, which may worsen side effects like abdominal pain, diarrhea, headache, or uterine cramps. Do not significantly alter your grapefruit juice intake while taking this drug.

Most forms of nicotine do not interact significantly with food. If you are using Nicotine Gum, however, you should not ingest acidic beverages like coffee or colas within 15 minutes of chewing the gum, in order to get the best effect of the Nicotine. Also, do not eat or drink while chewing the gum.

Although an interaction is possible, these drugs are often used together without problems. In theory, Mifepristone, RU-486 may decrease the actions of Clopidogrel to some extent. The significance of this interaction is not known.
