Using Procarbazine with Beta-Agonists (examples of Beta-agonists include: Advair, Combivent, Foradil, Proventil, Serevent, and Ventolin) might lead to a serious increase in blood pressure, known as 'hypertensive crisis', nervousness, palpitations or other serious side effects.

Certain foods might increase the risk of side effects with Procarbazine. In addition, you should probably limit your intake of aged or smoked meats (like sausages or smoked or pickled fish), aged cheeses, and caffeine containing foods like coffee, colas, teas, and chocolate while on Procarbazine. Taking these foods along with Procarbazine might increase the risk of high blood pressure, confusion, restlessness, or other side effects. Ask your dietician or health care professional for a complete listing of foods best avoided while on Procarbazine.

You must avoid alcoholic beverages while taking Procarbazine. Side effects from Procarbazine may get worse if you have Alcoholic beverages or take medicines containing a significant amount of alcohol. Beverages to avoid include some beers (including alcohol-free beer); wines; sherry; hard liquor; or liqueurs. Taking these beverages along with Procarbazine might increase the risk of serious high blood pressure, confusion, restlessness, or other side effects.

Discuss any new or worsening side effects (like confusion, constipation, dizziness, difficulty with urination, dry mouth and eyes, changes in vision, palpitations, or fast heartbeat) with your health care provider. In some individuals, lower doses of Tolterodine may need to be prescribed, check with your health care professional.

Granisetron and Beta-agonists may be prescribed together under the supervision of your health care provider. Examples of Beta-agonists include: Advair, Combivent, Foradil, Proventil, Serevent, and Ventolin. Although rare, Granisetron can increase the risk of a dangerous change in heartbeat or heart rhythm. Very rarely, Beta-agonists have also caused changes in heart rate or rhythm. Additional risk factors for this rare interaction include females, patients with certain pre-existing heart conditions (such as prior heart attack, angina, heart failure, heart rhythm disturbances), patients receiving certain Diuretics (water pills such as Hydrochlorothiazide) which can decrease the level of potassium in the blood, patients with a low potassium level in the blood due to excessive vomiting or diarrhea, or patients with congenital Long QT syndrome (a rare genetic syndrome). Seek medical attention immediately if you notice side effects like chest pain, dizziness, fainting or falling spells, palpitations, shortness of breath, or a change in your heart beat (such as a fast or irregular heart beat) while taking these drugs together.

Limit excessive Caffeine intake (examples: coffee, teas, colas, chocolate and some herbal supplements) while taking Sympathomimetics and avoid medicines containing additional Caffeine whenever possible. Examples of Sympathomimetics include medicines used to treat asthma and other breathing problems like Albuterol, Arformoterol, Formoterol, Salmterol and others. Taking a high amount of Caffeine with the listed drugs can increase the risk of nausea, nervousness, palpitations, problems with sleep, rapid heartbeat, or other side effects.

Studies suggest that Tobacco smoking may increase the risk of rare but serious lung side effects (lung cancer) from Procarbazine therapy. Discuss any new or worsening side effects, such as a persistent, non-productive cough or shortness of breath, with your health care provider while you are receiving Procarbazine.

Side effects from Procarbazine may get worse if you take Caffeine, like increased blood pressure, confusion, restlessness, or other side effects. All preparations containing caffeine should be used sparingly such as tea, coffee, chocolate, cola, or 'stay awake' products. Some nonprescription medicines also contain caffeine and should not be taken along with Procarbazine.
