What is this medicine?NORGESTREL (nawr JES truhl) is an oral contraceptive (birth control pill). The product contains a female hormone known as a progestin. It is used to prevent pregnancy.NOTE: This drug is discontinued in the United States. This medicine may be used for other purposes; ask your health care provider or pharmacist if you have questions. What should I tell my health care provider before I take this medicine?They need to know if you have any of these conditions:
How should I use this medicine?Take this medicine by mouth. You may take it with or without food. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Take this medicine at the same time each day and in the order directed on the package. Do not take your medicine more often than directed.Contact your pediatrician regarding the use of this medicine in children. Special care may be needed. This medicine has been used in female children who have started having menstrual periods. A patient information sheet will be given with each prescription and refill. Read this sheet carefully each time. The sheet may change frequently. Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine contact a poison control center or emergency room at once. NOTE: This medicine is only for you. Do not share this medicine with others. |
