What is this medicine?SODIUM FLUORIDE (SOE dee um FLOOR ide) gel is used to prevent tooth decay. It also helps to decrease sensitivity of the teeth.This medicine may be used for other purposes; ask your health care provider or pharmacist if you have questions. What should I tell my health care provider before I take this medicine?They need to know if you have any of these conditions:
How should I use this medicine?This medicine is applied to the teeth. Follow these instructions unless otherwise instructed by your dental professional: After brushing thoroughly with toothpaste, rinse as usual. Apply a thin ribbon of gel to the teeth with a toothbrush or mouth tray. Do this once daily for at least one minute, preferably at bedtime. After using, adults should spit out the gel and should not eat, drink or rinse for 30 minutes for best results. Do not swallow the gel.Talk to your pediatrician or dental professional regarding the use of this medicine in children. This gel has been used in children as young as 6 years of age, however, precautions do apply. Children of 6 to 16 years of age should spit the gel out after use and rinse the mouth thoroughly. Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine contact a poison control center or emergency room at once. NOTE: This medicine is only for you. Do not share this medicine with others. What if I miss a dose?If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, use only that dose. Do not use double or extra doses. |
