What is this medicine?ERYTHROMYCIN (er ith roe MYE sin) is a macrolide antibiotic. It is used on the skin to treat acne.This medicine may be used for other purposes; ask your health care provider or pharmacist if you have questions. How should I use this medicine?This medicine is for external use only. Do not take by mouth. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Wash hands before and after use. Wash the affected area with warm water and soap, rinse, and dry completely before applying this medicine. Wait 30 minutes after shaving or washing before applying. This preparation contains alcohol and may sting. The bottle will have an applicator top. Tilt the bottle and apply the solution. Cover all pimples and the surrounding area until the skin is wet. Do not get this medicine in your eyes. If you do, rinse out with plenty of cool tap water. Use your doses at regular intervals. Use this medicine for the full course prescribed by your doctor or health care professional, even if you think your condition is better.
