What is this medicine?

DIPHENHYDRAMINE; HYDROCODONE; PHENYLEPHRINE (dye fen HYE dra meen; hye droe KOE done; fen il EF rin) is a combination of an antihistamine, a cough suppressant, and a decongestant. It is used to treat the symptoms of the common cold, and of sinus and other upper respiratory tract infections. This medicine will help with a cough, and congestion in the nose or ears. This medicine will not treat an infection.

This medicine may be used for other purposes; ask your health care provider or pharmacist if you have questions.

How should I use this medicine?

Take this medicine by mouth. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Use a specially marked spoon or container to measure each dose. Ask your pharmacist if you do not have one. Household spoons are not accurate. Take your medicine at regular intervals. Do not take it more often than directed.

Talk to your pediatrician regarding the use of this medicine in children. This medicine is not approved for use in children less than 6 years old.

Patients over 65 years old may have a stronger reaction and need a smaller dose.

Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.
