Sunday Funnies: Diabetes Blog Week Saturation...

Published May 17, 2015

As we close out this sixth annual Diabetes Blog Week that brought more than 100 posts each day from across the globe, many of us in the Diabetes Online Community (DOC) are probably feeling like this...

Thanks again to Jerry King, an accomplished worldwide cartoonist and regular contributor here at the 'Mine. He actually drew this funny for us last year, and we thought it was worth revisiting for 2015.

With more than 100 posts contributed every single day this past week (wow!), there's no doubt we'll be going working our way through them for days to come. Today, we're asked to reflect on the new friends we've found during the course of this past week:

The very first inspiration for Diabetes Blog Week was to help connect our blogging community, and that continues to be the most important reason it's held every year.  So let's help foster and continue those connections as we wrap up another D-Blog Week. Share a link to a new blog you've found or a new friend you've made.

For us at the 'Mine, here are a few new D-peep blogs that caught our eye:

  • New Deniabetic blog by type 1 Kim Hislop, who's one of our past Patient Voices Contest winners. She's started blogging just in time for D-Blog Week! Definitely worth checking out what she's been sharing so far.
  • New D-peep Kelly Griffith shared her story for the first time on the blog Arden's Day, after deciding it was time to come out of the "diabetes closet." Kudos to you, Kelly, on being brave enough to air your story!
  • Random! That's the blog by type 1 PWD Heather Nulty in the UK, who also recently started sharing her own personal diabetes stories once again after taking an online blogging break for a few years. Welcome back to the DOC blogosphere, Heather!
  • It was also great to see Life Beyond Glucose, written by Erin Michelle. She's been blogging for awhile, but we just hadn't had a chance to explore her stuff before now. Another great connection made through D-Blog Week!

Thanks to everyone for being a part of this effort. Every voice makes a difference and does wonders to make our D-Community even stronger.
