Healthline Expands Its Medical Advisory Board
SAN FRANCISCO – May 9, 2006 –
Healthline (www.healthline.com),

today named three renowned medical professionals to its Medical
Advisory Board: Kenneth Kizer, M.D. M.P.H., John D. Halamka, M.D.,
M.S., and Colleen Conway-Welch, Ph.D., R.N. The addition of these
influential and highly respected medical experts will allow the board
to leverage its industry-wide knowledge and influence as Healthline
expands its market- leading search and navigation technologies that
help empower consumers to become better educated and make more informed
decisions.
Headed by Paul Auerbach, M.D., M.S., the Medical Advisory Board is
involved in numerous oversight and evaluation activities for
Healthline, including making recommendations on the vision and
direction of the company, providing input into Healthline's Medically
Guided SearchSM components, including its taxonomy, navigation, content,
and other features, and guiding the company as it addresses the
tremendous opportunities to improve how patients find, understand and
manage their health information.
Dr. Kizer is currently chief executive officer and chairman of
Medsphere Systems Corporation, the leading commercial provider of open
source technology for the healthcare industry. Prior to that, he was
founding president and CEO of the National Quality Forum (NQF), a
Washington, DC-based organization with the mission to improve American
healthcare quality. Dr. Kizer has served in other significant roles in
the industry, including Under-Secretary for Health in the U.S.
Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), and Director of the California
Department of Health Services. Dr. Kizer is an honors undergraduate of
Stanford University and medical graduate of UCLA.
Dr. Halamka is Chief Information Officer of the CareGroup Health
System, Chief Information Officer and Associate Dean for Educational
Technology at Harvard Medical School, Chairman of the New England
Health Electronic Data Interchange Network, Chair of the Healthcare
Information Technology Standards Panel, Chief Information Officer of
the Harvard Clinical Research Institute, and a practicing emergency
physician. Dr. Halamka received his medical degree from the University
of California, San Francisco and has a master's degree in
bioengineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
Dr. Conway-Welch has served as Dean of Vanderbilt University's school
of nursing since 1984. Among many other positions, she served on the
National Bipartisan Commission on the Future of Medicare from 1998 to
1999, was named by President Reagan to his Commission on the HIV
Epidemic, and is former president of Friends of the National Institutes
of Health, National Institute for Nursing Research. The former director
of the nurse-midwifery graduate program and the chair of the division
of parent-child nursing at the University of Colorado, Dr. Conway-Welch
earned her Ph.D. in nursing from New York University and her M.S.N.
from the Catholic University of America.
