Opportunity
Healthline seeks a Director of Business Development. The exceptional candidate will have strong sales skills, is a fast learner, and
has worked with a successful consumer—focused Internet company, preferably in healthcare as a search engine, portal, etc. He/she will have had success in developing and driving large strategic relationships and alternative revenue opportunities. The successful candidate is strategic and creative, with a solid understanding of where the market is going. Experience with the advertising revenue model and a clear understanding of where the healthcare/search space is going is also a plus.
Responsibilities
- Develops and drives all strategic relationships and alternative revenue opportunities for Healthline, including, but not limited to, distribution, content, OEM, technology and M&A.
- Works closely with the SVP to identify opportunities; Develop an overall growth strategy and the tactics to achieve this strategy.
- Develops and negotiates business terms and plans. Close partnerships and other transactions.
- Works with SVP to aggressively grow distribution partnerships including traffic acquisition and OEM relationship with healthcare web search engines, portals and other relevant sites.
- Develops key content and technology relationships that add substantive value to the Healthline product offering.
- Identifies healthcare category entry opportunities & partnerships in support of Healthline's category expansion.
- Creates and drives advertiser reseller channel with ad agencies and online marketing firms.
Knowledge/Skills & Abilities
8+ years of Business Development experience, including significant experience in negotiating important third party relationships as a principal, and having cut deals of significant size.
- Proven experience with and strong understanding of ecommerce, online advertising and search engines.
- Prior leadership experience, including significant exposure to senior levels of management, is essential.
- Experience with a wide variety of contracts, including distribution, licensing, co-marketing, revenue share, advertising, OEM, and M&A.
- Existing “rolodex” so as to be able to hit the ground running.
- Ability to think strategically, but then drive strategy to execution.
- Proven ability to both open doors and close deals.
- Broad understanding of Internet channel trends is important
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects proactively.
- Ability to work well under pressure and deadlines.
- Results oriented self-starter with the ability to perform multiple tasks, meet deadlines and deliver excellent results in a fast-paced environment.

Knowledge/Skills & Abilities
3 – 5 years of Business Development experience, including some experience in negotiating important third party relationships.
- Proven experience with and strong understanding of ecommerce, online advertising and search engines.
- Some experience with contracts, including distribution, licensing, co-marketing, revenue share, advertising, OEM, and M&A.
- Experience selling Internet ad space to pharmaceutical industry is a plus.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree required; MBA preferred. Recent MBA candidates will be considered.
