Software Engineer - Japanese

Reports to VP of Engineering

Opportunity

Work with dynamic engineering team to internationalize and localize applications and tools to Japanese. Define, design, architect and develop core internet applications and tools for internal use. Design and Implement complex search and indexing algorithms on large persistent data sets to support Japanese (and other languages).

Responsibilities

  • Internationalize Healthline's services and localize them to Japanese.
  • Develop new components of Healthline web site, partner solutions and internal tools, especially for the above.
  • Extend existing functionality, and develop new tools.
  • Communicate in fluent Japanese with Healthline's Japanese partner(s).

Knowledge/Skills & Abilities

  • 5 years software development experience.
  • Software development experience on Unix required.
  • Internet web applications development experience preferred.
  • Proven expertise in the following technologies:
  • Java and/or C++ programming language
  • J2EE, including servlets, Java Server Pages (JSP)
  • Relational databases ( Oracle), SQL and JDBC, a plus
  • Fluent in Japanese.
  • Familiar with basic UNIX commands such as grep, sort, etc.
  • Experience in search, data mining and/or text mining a plus
  • Healthcare industry experience a plus

Education Requirements

  • BS/BA in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science or similar field, or 5 years of related experience. .
