Endovenous Laser Treatment (ELT), which is covered by most insurance companies, achieves the same result as the sclerosant but uses laser energy delivered through a tiny optic fiber that is inserted into the abnormal vein. As the optic fiber is withdrawn, it delivers laser energy that heats and closes the vein, allowing the blood flow to redirect itself to other healthy veins.
