Skin cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer - the result of uncontrolled growth of abnormal skin cells. It can occur anywhere but is usually found in places where the skin is exposed to the sun. There are three types of skin cancer: basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma. Melanoma is the result of changes in a mole. Basal cell carcinoma is the most common of all skin cancers, accounting for 90% of all cases.
