Book Review: Tempted, 6th in the House of Night Series

Nancy L. Brown, PhD

If you have not finished this book, do not read this book review - it will spoil it for you! Tempted is book six in the House of Night series and begins after Zoey and her friends have banished Kalona and Neferet, Zoey and Stark are both recovering, the nuns and vampires are friends, and it is clear that Stevie Rae is keeping some really bad secrets about her red vampires and a bigger secret - a raven mocker.

Zoey continues to struggle with her memories from her life as A-ya, multiple loves, which annoys many adult readers, and her new found powers. Stark is struggling with his ability to protect Zoey, Aphrodite and Darius are getting serious, and Zoey and her friends go to see the high council. The death in the last chapter breaks your heart, and leaves Zoey shattered.

The whole book seems to span about a week in their lives and at the end, I felt like it was a little formulaic and a rip-off, teasing readers with the next book, without much substance. I was disappointed, but it was a fun read.

I am just starting "Untamed" and I need to know who dies at the end of "Tempted". It stinks to get so involved, a character dies and then you have to wait for a new book for all issues to resolve. I want Erik and Zoey to be together. Please tell me he does not die.

It really sucks that you pay for a book to get the whole story like in "Tempted" and at the end the major story line is gonna be in the next book that will be out the next year. The whole book builds to this major plot and then its not in there...come on people... These books were poorly written because they repeat alot of the same who is who and what happened in each and every book. If you wanted to know all that you should read the first book and follow them in sequencial order to find out.
So in each book alot of pages are gone to waste reaquainting you with the previous 4 books or so depending on which one you are on.
Also there are a few quite annoying parts in each like the twins say "Easy Peasy" after everything no matter what. and "I almost peed myself" everytime someone gets snuck up on and you definatly would not tell the boy you really like that! I am guessing these are the parts Kristin Cast wrote which seem to me these parts actually take away from the book.

This book was a very huge disappointment. More time was spent on the red fledglings, and good vampyres stuggling against bad vamps. Sound familiar. Just as stephanie meyer or Anne Rice about these concepts.
Zoey is now shattered marked as an average fledgling. I have spent this entire series watching her grow into a high preistess. I have no desire to start this process all over again. The monontany would kill anyone.
I haven't spoken to anyone who enjoyed this book. Most of those people will not buy or read the next book.
