Keep Your Shoes On Your Feet
Wednesday, June 10, 2009
Nancy L. Brown, PhD
Do you know that you can get
plantar warts and
athlete's foot if you are barefoot in locker rooms or gyms?
Plantar warts are caused by a virus that produces flat or gray-brown bumps on the soles of the feet. Athlete's foot is a fungus that causes flaking and itching between your toes or on the soles of the feet.
Booth can be picked up walking barefoot in locker rooms, around pools, etc... where the damp floors help the viruses and fungi grow!
So, remember your sunscreen and keep shoes on your feet in public areas - always wear flip flops - even in the showers! Happy summer!
