Fast Fitness - Strengthen Character

Here is Fast Friday Fitness - prevent a common habit that weakens your character - judging others.

After talking to someone, passing them on the street, leaving a party, interacting with them on a checkout line, meeting, internet site, or telephone, do you inventory their perceived faults? Do you pass your poor temperament to others by retelling the list? Notice if you harm yourself with this habit, and instead, decide to leave an interaction with clean character:
  1. Never think you know someone well enough to judge them.

This truth comes from my black belt student Christopher Emmolo.

    How many times do we hear someone making ajudgmental comment about a person who just happens to be passing by? Too many.

    Dr. Bookspan, I have read all your posts, but one question lingers. When doing a butterfly (groin) stretch, if my knees already go down all the way, is it safe to bend forward to increase the stretch? By bending forward, I would support my weight with my hands and stretch from the hips. I've seen many of my masters do this stretch with a flat back, who say it increases stretch in the groin muscles. I had to ask because your books have already helped me so much :)

    To Anonymous, great smart work using my work for good. Keep sending your success stories. Without seeing you, in general it sounds like the stretch you propose gives more.
    More important - what function do you need, what is the status of your lower back discs, and will bending forward to stretch benefit your health and functional skills? Sports, and aesthetics like dance, that use this leg angle and range of motion for a specific function, use it standing with a straight body. Give Fast Fitness - Relaxing Hip, Leg, and Groin Stretch a try and see if it is fun for you. Building function is more helpful than mere competition of going to an arbitrary farther point.
